PHYS 404 Project

Numerical Methods in Radiation Room Shielding

Researched methods of Monte Carlo numerical approximation of particle interactions to determine the shielding effectiveness of a treatment room in a radiation therapy clinic. Focused on staff safety in regard to secondary and tertiary radiation exposure. Discussed practicality of these numerical methods and their limitations based on hardware constraints and applicability to the problem at hand, as well as the accuracy of voxel-based geometric modeling of the room. Compiled into a poster for the PHYS 404 class of 2022 at UBC. See the poster above, or download it here.
